Aurora Space station is set to launch a Space Hotel in 2021 and start accepting guests in 2022. A 12 day stay at the station will cost guests $9.5 million but this will be after guests pay a deposit of $80, 000.
Aurora Station is undergoing development by Orion Span, a space technology establishment located in California, Texas, Houston and Silicon Valley. With a whole day in the space hotel costing $791,666 - guests will be accompanied with 5 other guests including 2 crew members. The space hotel will orbit Earth every 90 minutes, which means travellers will experience 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours.
Guests will also experience zero gravity and take part in research experiments such as growing food while in orbit. In preparation for the lift off Aurora Space have arranged guests to take a 3 month training programme with the last session happening abroad the space hotel itself. Reportedly Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry and Russel Brand are on the list of guests
Aurora Station is just the first idea from Orion Span, the company also hope to create the world's first condominiums in space. "Our long-term vision is to sell actual space in those new modules," says Orion Span founder and CEO Frank Bunger, who revealed the Aurora Station idea at the Space 2.0 Summit in San Jose, California. He went on to also speak about the agenda they have set for the future and what they aim to achive.
"We're calling that a space condo. So, either for living or subleasing, that's the future vision here — to create a long-term, sustainable human habitation in LEO [low Earth orbit]."
